Brit Awards Style File with Select Specs

As a frequent contributor to Select Specs' Lifestyle Magazine, I always keep on the ball with upcoming events that are relevant to their store. So of course, when a ton of celebs come together to celebrate The Brit Awards, I was glued to my TV ready and waiting to compile the best red carpet looks and trust me there were a lot! My article is below,  but did I pick the right ones?

BRIT ’17 AWARDS: BEST RED CARPET LOOKS

Now London Fashion Week has come to an end, and onlookers have shifted their gaze back to awards season. While we’ve already seen the glamorous (and not so glamorous) looks from The Golden Globes and BAFTAs, last night saw The Brit Awards hit centre stage.

This celebration of music is renowned for its star studded turn-out. Performances by the likes of Katy Perry, The 1975 and Ed Sheeran were set for 2017. But before the ceremony could begin, we got to see our favourite celebs step out onto the red carpet, which, since the awards began 40 years ago, has always been a talking point.

From classic shapes to garish gowns, there was certainly a mixed bag of looks last night, with plenty of designer must-haves to keep your eyes on over the coming seasons.

Anne-Marie

British breakthrough act nominee, Anne-Marie, channeled some old-school Hollywood with her adorable satin gown. Flattering and figure-hugging, this blush pink frock was styled in true Anne-Marie fashion.

Paired with a furry stole and statement jewels by Butler and Wilson. While she may not have won an award this time, she made all the right impressions on the red carpet.

Lianne La Havas

Combining both sheer and embroidered details in a red carpet dress can always prove a little risky, but Lianne La Havas knows how to embrace this trend well. Sporting a Jenny Packham number, Havas kept styling simple with subtle makeup, letting the dress and all its shimmery foliage speak for itself!

Mollie King

Furry stoles appeared to be a running theme for last night’s Brit looks. In another interpretation, Molly King draped her floor-length fur over a simple silver mini dress. Embracing the metallic trend, this Natalie & Alanna piece was the star of show with minimal styling and silver shoes of a similar hue.

Fearne Cotton

Arriving with her husband Jesse, our favourite Fearne stepped out in a simply stunning Alessandra Rich dress. While some may say that this dress is a little on the plain side, we argue it’s got plenty of detail to offer! From the classic bardot cut, through to the ruffled waist and the intricate lace skirt, this dress brings all our favourite vintage fashion into one stylish piece.

Brooklyn Beckham

If you’re looking for style inspiration among the boys, then the Beckhams will be at the top of the list. This year, much to many fans’ surprise, saw Brooklyn Beckham take centre stage in a Burberry black-and-white checked topper, to cover his shoulder sling from a recent collarbone injury. This proved to be the ideal fashion-forward piece to elevate his monotone top and trousers.
